Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 14, 2026

At GhostRoom, your privacy is our primary feature. We built this platform from the ground up to minimize data collection and protect your anonymity. This Privacy Policy explains what limited data we collect and how it is used.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Unlike other platforms, we do not require or collect:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
  • Social media profile links.
  • Passwords (we have no user accounts).

2. Information We Collect Automatically

When you access GhostRoom, we collect limited, non-identifying technical data necessary to provide the service:

  • Session IDs: A temporary, randomized guestId generated by your browser to manage your place in the matchmaking queue.
  • Connection Data: Standard server logs including IP addresses (which are hashed/anonymized where possible), browser type, and timestamps. This is strictly used for DDOS protection and preventing bot abuse.
  • Interest Tags: If you use the interest matching feature, we temporarily store the tags you searched for to pair you with others.

3. How We Handle Chat Messages

GhostRoom operates on a "No-Logs" philosophy for chat contents. Messages are transmitted securely via WebSockets. Once a chat room is closed by either party, the room data and its associated messages are deleted. We do not permanently store, read, or analyze your conversations.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's Local Storage exclusively to save your Nickname and Interest Tags so you do not have to re-type them on every visit. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, pixel tags, or invasive analytics.

5. Trust and Safety (Reporting)

If a user is reported through our moderation system, we temporarily store a cryptographic hash of their connection fingerprint in our Redis database to enforce a 24-hour ban. This data is automatically purged when the ban expires.

6. Third-Party Services

We use Cloudflare for DDOS protection and edge routing. Cloudflare may collect standard network traffic data to prevent malicious attacks on our infrastructure.
